The tool that we intend to develop will have the following characteristics :

  • it must be a « generic navigator », that allows the researcher to interactively explore the corpus ; it must therefore be able to display on demand (most) documents of the corpus.
  • it must provide the ability to control the Replayer so the researcher can « view » the process of the discussion.
  • it must provide the possibility to create secondary documents, that will represent the comments, the annotations, but also the categories, since these will be in some cases interactively created during the analysis.
  • it must provide the possibility to create scripts, that can perform pre and post processing in an analysis.
  • it must provide a computer representation of the points in the corpus. These points will be represented by XML elements (which we will call anchors), and which will allow to designate any part of the corpus.
  • finally, it must provide the possibility to create links. These links will represent relations between categories (or concepts, or annotations) and points in the corpus. It is suggested that categories (concepts, annotations) are themselves represented as items in documents, so that anchors can also be used to designate these elements. A link is therefore a set of anchors.

Tatiana: Trace Analysis Tool for Interactions ANAlysts. This is the tool developed for the Lead Project, but it will also handle traces from different discussion tools (Coffee, Drew, DrewLite, Digalo, etc).

Drew is a collaborative tool (developped during the previous projects SCALE) that provide trace files of interactions with a web browser interface.
You may test here without any installation.

DrewLite is a simplified version of this tool running on a LAN with a less elaborate environment for managing sessions and traces. A simple trace viewer and converter comes also with DrewLite.
